Next Stop…Bora Bora!

Today was going to be a long day of sailing across the ocean to Bora Bora! But before we headed out, we went for a short visit to the pearl farm near the anchorage. Tahiti is known for its Black Pearls, and this small pearl farm offered tours to visitors to see how they are grown and harvested.

After that, we raised the sails and pointed the boat toward Bora Bora for some open ocean sailing. The day was a little bouncy but a lot of fun, and about 30 miles overall! And the entrance through the reef going into Bora Bora was BEAUTIFUL!!!

We picked up a mooring ball near the Bora Bora yacht club (it’s not as fancy as you think), and then took a walk around town to stretch our legs. Grocery stores are always fascinating in foreign countries (I think), and so we had to hit one up, as well as check out the local “Home Depot” hardware store.

And to finish up the night, we had dinner at the Yacht Club.

The other highlight of the day was during a ride into town on the dinghy. A local in a canoe was paddling near us (and keeping up by paddling while we were speeding along with an 18hp motor). He pulled in behind us and rode our wake for a mile or so into town as he took a break. We got a pretty good video of him.
