Lots of fun today! The main events for the day were a long sail north to a small atoll and back (just an excuse to get out on the water and enjoy the ocean), followed by some snorkeling with sharks.
Bora Bora is one of those places that you look at each day, and just can’t quite believe that it’s real. We did some ocean sailing to the atoll of Tupai, then stopped and had lunch off the coast. Then we sailed back and picked up a mooring ball in front of the island of To’opua on Bora Bora, next to a spot where the sharks are known to congregate. With a bit of encouragement from Sloan, who had been here many times before and assured us that everyone who’d gone swimming with the sharks came back alive, we all took the dinghy to the spot and jumped in.
I’m so glad that we did! It was such a cool experience. The sharks were all around, but were not the least bit threatening.
