Open Ocean Sailing

Today it was time to leave Bora-Bora and start making our way back home. We still had another day on the boat, but part of sailing is working with the weather. Since we had a 40 mile open ocean passage to do, we opted to go a day earlier when the weather was more favorable and the seas would be more manageable. We worked our way through the protected water of Bora-Bora to the ocean inlet, and from there it was several hours of fantastic wind and waves as we worked our way back to Taha’a. Everyone took a turn at the helm since it would be our last chance for some blue water sailing.

After picking up a mooring ball in Taha’a, a few of us took the dinghy for a short ride to another pearl farm. There was nobody else there, and the owners were great and showed us the whole operation.
