Sailing in the Virgin Islands

I’ve been at this sailing thing for a little over 2 years now, and one of my goals was to complete a series of classes that would allow me to charter a sailboat somewhere in the world (with some friends). Recently, I had an amazing opportunity come along to complete my last 2 classes in the British Virgin Islands on a catamaran, and I just couldn’t say no.

Getting to Road Town in the British Virgin Islands involved two days of travel before actually boarding the boat, including a red-eye flight to North Carolina, a flight to St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands, and then a ferry from the US to the British Virgin Islands, and then a taxi to the marina before boarding the boat. St Thomas was beautiful and a nice stop along the way to ease into things.
